Publix Helps Provide Tool to Make Pet Adoption More Fun

LAKELAND, Fla. -- Publix here has teamed up with production company PetsIncredible to distribute 400,000 free DVDs offering advice - and coupons -- to pet lovers adopting from local animal shelters in the Southeaster United States.

"Pet adoption is an important decision within a family unit," said Maria Brous, Publix director of media and community relations, in a statement, "and we're providing a tangible tool to help pet owners become pet savvy."

The free copies are of two DVDs, "Training Your Adopted Dog" and "Your Adopted Cat: Everything You Need to Know about Your Newest Family Member." The DVDs are designed to make the pet adoption process more enjoyable, and help new pet owners forge long-term relationships with their animals.

Included with each video are coupons, redeemable only at Publix stores, from such popular pet brands brands as Iams, Purina, Snausages, Pedigree, Hartz, Sergeant's, Cat's Pride, Tidy Cat's, and Frosty Paws.

Founded in 2004, PetsIncredible, a division of Animal Planet Media Enterprises, strives to enhance the relationship between families and their pets by providing simple, easy-to-use reward-based training techniques, via its award-winning training DVDs and interactive Web site, petvideo.com.
