Publix Among Best Places to Work in IT: Computerworld

Publix this week was recognized for the sixth consecutive year as one of Computerworld magazine’s top workplaces for information technology (IT) professionals, rising 20 spots to No. 60 on this year’s list, and still the only supermarket chain to be so recognized.

“Once again, our core strengths of associate ownership and recognizing our associates for their valued contributions have made us a great place to work,” said director of media and community relations Maria Brous. “We’re humbled to know our associates believe so strongly in our company and our mission that we’ve made the list [for] six straight years.”

In addition, Publix ranked No. 37 for companies with 10,000 or more associates. This honor is part of the weekly IT publication’s 17th annual Best Places to Work in IT survey, published in the June 21 issue of Computerworld and online at www.computerworld.com.

The Best Places to Work in IT list is an annual ranking of the top 100 work environments for technology professionals compiled by IDG’s Computerworld. The lists are compiled based on a comprehensive questionnaire regarding company offerings in categories such as diversity, career development, training, and retention. In addition, Computerworld conducts extensive surveys of IT workers, and their responses factor heavily in determining the rankings.

Lakeland, Fla.-based Publix is privately owned and operated, and operates 1,019 stores in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee.
