Prosecutors Seek 30-year Sentence for Ex-U.S. Foodservice Exec: Report

COLUMBIA, Md. -- Mark Kaiser, the former marketing head at Ahold division U.S. Foodservice here, could get up to 30 years behind bars if U.S. prosecutors have their way, according to published reports.

Kaiser, who was convicted in November of conspiracy and fraud for his part in overstating earnings at U.S. Foodservice from 2000 to 2003, is set to receive his sentence tomorrow from U.S. District Court Judge Thomas Griesa.

Kaiser's lawyer, Richard Morvillo, contends that Kaiser shouldn't receive more than 27 months, because prosecutors exaggerated when they placed the cost of the fraud to investors at $6 billion.
