Pro’s Ranch Market Re-Opens Phoenix Store
Regional Hispanic-themed independent Pro’s Ranch Markets next month plans to hold a grand re-opening of a Phoenix store – its first in the city – that was destroyed by fire one year ago and brought back to life following a multimillion-dollar renovation project.
A kitchen fire in March 2010 partially damaged the South Mountain Pro’s Ranch Market, which anchors a South Mountain retail center. The damage prompted the Provenzano family owners to accelerate the store’s remodeling that had already been planned prior to the fire.
None of the store’s employees lost their jobs due to the fire, and every employee was offered a transfer to other Pro’s Ranch locations during the remodeling. The transfer included bus passes for those who did not have transportation. “We take care of our employees like family, and worked hard to keep them busy during our construction projects,” said Mike Provenzano, owner of Pro’s Ranch Markets.
Pro’s Ranch hosted a Job Fair and hired over 200 team members from local community groups, schools and churches from the surrounding community. These jobs will supplement the existing employee base of over 300 people covering several shifts, making Pro’s Ranch Markets a large employer in the local community. “My family believes if you take care of your neighborhood, neighbors will take care of you,” Provenzano added.
The store’s renovation includes upgrades with expanded bakery and kitchen offerings, and brings the total square footage to 51,837, making this store a unique food specialty market in South Phoenix.
Among the new services and products featured in the renovated store are:
- An “innovative” coffee station
- An expanded bakery with fresh bread and made-to-order cakes
- A renovated tortilleria that makes over 100,000 homemade tortillas per day
- An expanded cremeria with homemade sausages
- Expanded produce department with fresh fruit and vegetables delivered daily
- Fish department which will carry the largest variety of any store in Phoenix, said Pros
- A new façade with increased lighting and security
“‘Always Fresh’ is our slogan,” said Provenzano. “We have a fresh-from-scratch bakery, hot tortilla factory, and a new hot foods department (La Cocina) that offers fresh authentic meals to our customers. Our street tacos and hot tortillas are the best!”
In addition, the store will host regular events. “We have community-driven, family-oriented events at every store almost every month which range from Easter Egg Hunts to Back-To-School-Backpack Giveaways, and Christmas Toys gifts Giveaways,” said Provenzano. “Expect great events at this center.”
Pro’s Ranch Markets operates nine stores in three states, including seven stores in Arizona, one store in Texas, one store in New Mexico, a gas station, two laundromats, an 80,000 square foot corporate office and warehouse in California and a 130,000 square foot warehouse in Phoenix,
