Produce for Better Health to Host Store Dietitians in Anaheim
For the third year in a row, Produce for Better Health Foundation (PBH) will play host to more than 20 supermarket dietitians at a three-day educational and networking program coinciding with Produce Marketing Association's (PMA) Fresh Summit, which is slated for Oct. 17-19 in Anaheim, Calif.
The program will provide a range of learning opportunities related to shoppers' attitudes and behaviors regarding fruits and vegetables, marketing tips and tools to boost consumption, an avocado and lime grove tour hosted by the California Avocado Commission, grocery store tours, and several networking opportunities.
"Several supermarkets, as well as fruit and vegetable marketers, are identifying ways to maximize dietitians' knowledge and their in-store presence, and this ROI will continue to increase over time," noted Elizabeth Pivonka, president and CEO of the Hockessin, Del.-based nonprofit foundation. "PBH's understanding of consumers, notably moms and primary household shoppers, combined with the strong relationship we have with supermarket dietitians, ideally positions PBH to provide programs like this and to unite members of the fruit and vegetable industry with these professionals."
The 2014 program is supported by Platinum Sponsors California Avocado Commission and Produce Marketing Association; Gold Sponsors Avocados from Mexico, Chelan Fresh, Sunset and Wholly Guacamole; as well as Silver Sponsors California Strawberry Commission, Chilean Fresh Fruit Association, Giorgio Fresh Mushrooms, Juice Products Association, Pear Bureau Northwest, Rainier Fruit Co., and Seneca Foods Corp.
