Price Chopper to Take Part in Northland's 'Drink to Pink' Program

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- Price Chopper here is teaming up with Northland Juices against breast cancer by contributing 25 cents to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) whenever a customer buys Northland's 100% Juice Cranberry Blends at Price Chopper stores in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, and Vermont from Oct. 8 through Oct. 14. Northland's "Drink to Pink" program is being held in conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The Northland/Price Chopper partnership will guarantee the foundation a $5,000 donation for every Northland bottle purchased at Price Chopper during the program, and will donate up to an additional $5,000, depending on shopper participation rates. The BCRF is an independent 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, the goal of which is to achieve prevention and a cure for breast cancer in our lifetime by providing funding for innovative clinical and genetic research at medical centers worldwide, and to raise public awareness about good breast health.

In support of the BCRF, Northland is running a national campaign that's expected to contribute a minimum of $50,000 to the foundation. This includes a national FSI that dropped on Oct. 1.

Noted Price Chopper customer services manager Maureen Murphy in a statement: "Price Chopper remains committed to giving back to the community, and this promotion is a great example of how easy it is to help others and make a difference -- even as you grocery shop."

To draw attention to the initiative, Northland bottles will feature the BCRF logo and a specially designed "bottlenecker" providing important breast health tips and offering information about additional ways for people to donate to the cause. Price Chopper will support the program in-store via posters and shelf signage, in addition to circular ads. Further, the retailer will highlight the Northland Drink to Pink/BCRF promotion on its Web site and in its "Healthy U brochure," as well as distribute Northland's "Cranberry Wellness" brochures at its stores.

"Northland shares our commitment to beating breast cancer, which affects so many women today. Through this program Price Chopper consumers are given a great opportunity to support the most innovative breast cancer research that will save lives in the future."

Golub Corp.-owned Price Chopper operates more than 110 stores in New York, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania.
