Price Chopper, Sunoco to Offer Loyalty Program in N.Y.’s North Country
Price Chopper, in partnership with 10 local Sunoco stations, is launching at nine new stores “Fuel AdvantEdge,” its exclusive program that discounts gasoline as a reward for grocery store purchases, The Gouverneur Times reported. The program has never before been offered in the upstate New York towns of Potsdam, Massena, Gouverneur, Canton and West Carthage.
In an effort to build additional value into the Price Chopper AdvantEdge card, which offers consumers savings on groceries, general merchandise and tickets to community events, the supermarket chain said the loyalty card program, which originally launched more than three years ago and is available across the grocer's store base, would be offered in all of its new North Country locations from the moment the stores open their doors.
Fuel AdvantEdge is an ongoing, cumulative savings and rewards program that gives consumers a 10-cent-per-gallon discount on gasoline purchases for every $50 of groceries purchased (20 cents per gallon on $100 purchased, 30 cents per gallon on $150 purchased, and so on). Unlike other reward programs, consumers can accumulate their points/dollars spent across a 90-day timeframe and cash in their gasoline discount for up to 20 gallons at their convenience, according to the report.
“What better way to reward our customers for choosing Price Chopper than by offering them great prices at the supermarket that translate to significant savings at the gas pump?” said Neil Golub, president and CEO of Schenectady, N.Y.-based Price Chopper.
Jeff Hassman, channel marketing manager for Sunoco, added, “Everywhere that Price Chopper offers this program, we have customers saving 50, 60 cents – even a dollar or more per gallon through the Fuel AdvantEdge program.”
