PG Marks 90 Years of Industry Leaders

In conjunction with its 90th anniversary celebration in 2012, Progressive Grocer hosted a gala cocktail party at the Food Marketing Institute’s annual convention in Dallas, where five supermarket industry leaders were inducted as charter members of PG's Hall of Fame, including Neil Golub, Chairman, Price Chopper/Golub Corp.; Ric Jurgens, Chairman and CEO, Hy-Vee Food Stores; Craig D. Schnuck, Executive Chairman, Schnuck Markets Inc.; David Shapira, Executive Chairman, Giant Eagle Inc.; and Robert Weis, Chairman, Weis Markets Inc.

Having helmed some of the most well respected banners throughout the industry, these five stalwart retail executives have skillfully guided the successful legacies of their companies into uncharted territories as lightening rods of change, gatekeepers of wellness, paragons of price-driven efficiencies, captains of customer-driven strategies, and servants and stewards of their local and extended communities.

Their acumen and accomplishments are illustrated in the creative retail savvy that has catapulted their companies into some of the largest and most productive privately-held companies in the United States.
