Peapod by Giant Expands in Pennsylvania

Giant Food Stores’ Peapod by Giant grocery delivery service is now available in more than 60 communities in greater Harrisburg and York, Pa., thanks to a new fulfillment facility in Camp Hill. The center's opening has also led to the creation of 50 new jobs, including personal shoppers and delivery drivers.

"It's all about making it easy for our customers to shop for their groceries," said Tom Lenkevich, president of Carlisle, Pa.-based Giant, an Ahold company. "With the launch of Peapod by Giant, our customers now have a full range of shopping options. Whether it is shopping in our stores, ordering online and picking up, or having their groceries delivered to their home or office, Giant customers truly can shop when, where, and how they want."

Added Lenkevich, "Customers will have a wide selection of well-priced, top-quality and fresh products … and not only will they continue to save money, but customers can save both time and travel by using Peapod by Giant."

Customers can shop anywhere, anytime from a laptop, tablet or smartphone with Peapod's mobile app. They can also create personal lists, search for nutrition information online, and sort products quickly by price or by nutrition criteria. On their first visit, Giant Bonus Card users can shop online from a list of items they’ve bought at their local Giant by entering the card number. Additionally, shoppers rack up Giant Gas Rewards and A+ School Rewards for their online purchases. Groceries can be delivered as soon as the next day after an order is placed.

Skokie, Ill.-based Peapod serves 24 U.S. markets in communities in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Maryland, District of Columbia, Virginia, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The service has made more than 30 million deliveries since it began in the late 80s.

Giant/Martin's operates nearly 200 grocery stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia, under the Giant Food Stores and Martin's Food Markets banners, which together employ more than 31,000 associates.
