PBH Launches Colors of Summer Contest

Produce for Better Health Foundation (PBH) has officially rolled out the Colors of Summer consumer contest on the "Fruits & Veggies—More Matters" Facebook page. The program highlights a different color group of fruit and vegetables each week during July, with consumers invited to submit their favorite fruit or veggie recipes. One random winner will be picked per week to receive a prize pack of gift cards, along with packages of fruit and vegetables from Stemilt Growers Inc. and Domex Superfresh Growers.

"Our fans are always providing great feedback, uploading vibrant pictures of meals complete with fruit and vegetables, interested in our content, and engaged in conversations that are a natural extension to our public relation and communication strategies," noted Elizabeth Pivonka, president and CEO of Hockessin, Del.-based PBH. "This contest is a fun way to continue to engage our fans, increase our following, and celebrate the bountiful and colorful selection of fruit and vegetables simultaneously."

Introduced in 2009, the Fruits & Veggies—More Matters Facebook page offers tips, resources, recipes and more to educate consumers, as well as a platform for fans to share, like and post produce-related stories. PBH also maintains a strong social media presence on such platforms as Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram.

PBH, a nonprofit fruit and vegetable education foundation, oversees “Fruits & Veggies—More Matters,” the nation’s largest public-private, fruit and vegetable nutrition education initiative, with fruit and vegetable nutrition coordinators in each state, territory and the military.
