Patrick Davis Rejoins FMI as VP of State Government Relations

The Food Marketing Institute appointed Patrick Davis, former president of Alliance Consulting, LLC, as VP, state government relations, responsible for serving as the principal liaison between FMI and state associations.

In this leadership role, he will be the information conduit regarding industry resources, state-level legislation and policy trends. He will also be responsible for developing and communicating policies on behalf of FMI.

“We know from his previous work at FMI that Patrick is a proven and successful leader,” said Leslie G. Sarasin, president and CEO at FMI. “We welcome him back to the team. His extensive knowledge of food industry operations provides solid grounding for his task of establishing, promoting and communicating state-level legislation as an advocate for the food retail and wholesale industry.”

As president and founder of Alliance Consulting, LLC, Davis served multiple clients (including FMI) on managing national trade association activities. In that role, he organized public affairs campaigns, facilitated share groups of FMI’s regional supermarket operators and helped clients promote their services to the supermarket industry.

Prior to founding Alliance Consulting, Davis worked as president of FMI’s North American Perishable Agricultural Receivers (NAPAR) group where he provided key information to US congressional offices and federal agencies on issues pertaining to the wholesale distribution of fresh produce. Davis’ experience in FMI spanned 20 years, where he also held key leadership roles, including director, eastern operations, responsible for implementing strategic initiative programs and managing recruitment and retention of FMI members.

Before joining FMI, Davis spent six years working in government relations positions at the National Restaurant Association (NRA) and Safeway Stores, Inc.

FMI conducts programs in public affairs, food safety, research, education and industry relations on behalf of its 1,500 member companies — food retailers and wholesalers — in the United States and around the world.
