Pathmark Rolls Out 'Healthy Steps' Dietitian Program
CARTERET, N.J. -- Pathmark Stores, Inc. here has launched "Healthy Steps," a new program that aims to improve the overall health of its customers. Pathmark spokesman Rich Savner told Progressive Grocer that the program debuted Dec. 28, and is available in all 141 of the Mid-Atlantic grocer's stores.
"We want to offer our consumers meaningful information that can improve their life," said Pathmark e.v.p. business strategy & marketing John Derderian in a statement. "Our program is not about overhauling people's diets, but about teaching simple steps to achieve wellness. Healthy Steps provides practical advice for incorporating a wide variety of popular national and regional brands into a healthy diet."
According to the company, the program, which features bilingual registered dietitian Jacqueline Gomes, "offers customers practical nutrition and healthy lifestyle information that is easy to apply to everyday life, incorporating balance, moderation, variety, and enjoyment."
Advice from Gomes, who is fluent in Spanish as well as English, will be disseminated via local media, community outreach programs, Pathmark advertising vehicles, a bimonthly newsletter and other in-store programs. Additionally, consumers will be able to send her specific questions by mail at the company's headquarters.
A range of program themes will be supported with relevant featured products every other week in the Pathmark sales circular. The featured products and newsletters will be found on a customized Healthy Steps end cap at a permanent location in most stores.
Pathmark currently operates 141 stores in the New York, New Jersey, and Philadelphia metropolitan areas.
