Pathmark Expanding Data Analysis Capability

CARTERET, N.J. -- Pathmark Stores, Inc. here said yesterday that it has secured a new platform to use data to enhance its merchandising, marketing, and store operations.

The new data analysis and reporting solution, from New York-based 1010data, should permit key areas within Pathmark to generate and assess important information from either a global or micro perspective.

1010data collects detailed transactional information, and via an ad-hoc report-generating system, will enable Pathmark to customize the data in a variety of formats. 1010data is managing and maintaining data warehouse for Pathmark, as well as providing technical assistance.

"The ability to easily access and format important data will be extremely beneficial to Pathmark," said the chain's co-president and chief merchandising officer Ken Martindale in a statement. "We can utilize information in a variety of ways in order to better understand our customers and tailor programs to serve their needs. The capabilities of the reporting solution are impressive, and its flexibility will allow us to obtain valuable insight into our business."

1010data's other customers include the New York Stock Exchange, Proctor & Gamble, Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch, and JP Morgan.

Pathmark operates 141 stores in the New York, New Jersey, and Philadelphia metropolitan areas.
