ONLINE RESOURCES: McCormick Launching ‘DIY’ Consumer Site

Just in time for spring, McCormick & Co. is introducing a virtual workshop featuring “Decorate It Yourself” activities for the whole family. In collaboration with decorating experts Karen Tack and Alan Richardson, authors of the new book, “What’s New, Cupcake?,” the Hunt Valley, Md.-based spice, herb and seasoning purveyor has come up with recipes, party ideas, tips and technique videos to serve as content for the workshop at mccormick.com.

“Part of what spring is all about is celebrating the colors of the season and having fun with food and flavor,” noted Tack. “Whether you are enjoying springtime holidays or even just a casual Saturday afternoon with the kids, all you need is a little imagination and a few simple ingredients, like my favorites from McCormick.”

Among the Spring Workshop’s features are:

Decorate It Yourself: This section features tips for table embellishments, spring party ideas, decorating stencils, as well as the McCormick Color Creator, which will help consumers mix and match drops of McCormick Food Color to get the perfect hue every time. Also, users can learn how to make creative Easter eggs via a series of egg-decorating videos.

Spring Into Cooking: A collection of spring recipes includes all meal occasions, from breakfast to dessert. Unique creations include Stuffed French Toast and Cheesy Bacon & Egg Brunch Casserole and Hello, Flower! Cupcake and Festive Meringue Cookies.

Play Time: Parents can find activities and party ideas for kids, including tips on how to plan a fun Easter Egg Hunt, and instructions for making homemade Water Colors and Funny Putty. For grown-ups, Tack and Richardson offer decorating tips for the table, among them centerpieces and special “paint-on placemats.”
