Nugget Market Streamlines Check Processing With Automated Solution

Nugget Market, Inc. has installed a new solution for back-office check conversion to reduce the time and costs associated with processing checks.

The grocer is using vbEPIX by Lenexa, Kan.-based Balance Innovations as its end-to-end back-office check conversion solution, which was developed to eliminate physical bank deposits by converting paper checks into electronic transactions, which results in reduced check transportation and processing costs.

“After installing vbEPIX, we process our deposits quicker and more accurately,” said Dennis Lindsay, CFO for Woodland, Calif.-based Nugget. “This allows us to spend more time on operational issues, as opposed to bookkeeping issues. We also like that it is easy to learn, that it ensures checks are deposited in a timely manner and that it utilizes the POS system in deposit preparation.”

The grocer said it also uses the system to automate manual procedures to eliminate deposit preparation time and improve accuracy, as well as to improve the efficiency of the check return process.

Nugget was already an existing customer of Balance Innovations’ flagship solution -- cash office management software VeriBalance, which was developed to make cash offices more efficient by automating processes such as till balances, pickups, loansand deposits. Integrated with the point-of-sale system, it reduces the time it takes to perform traditional bookkeeping tasks. The integrated vbEPIX solution provides Nugget with a total reconciliation process down to the store level.
