Newman’s Own Invites Shoppers to ‘Pizza and a Movie’

Newman’s Own, Inc. has rolled out its “Pizza and a Movie” promotion featuring a double bill of Netflix-delivered movies and home-baked Newman’s Own® Thin & Crispy frozen pizzas. Through March 2010, shoppers in eight regions of the United States -- New England/Albany, N.Y.; Baltimore/Washington, D.C.; Charlotte, N.C./Atlanta, Ga.; Minneapolis/Milwaukee; Denver; Phoenix; Portland, Ore./Seattle; and California -- can receive two free Newman’s Own Thin & Crispy frozen pizzas when they join Netflix via a special web address, www.netflix.com/newmansown. Over 3 million Newman’s Own Thin & Crispy frozen pizza product packages contain program details.

“As more consumers opt for at-home meals and entertainment, tying in with Netflix is a natural for us,” noted Mike Havard, VP, marketing at Westport, Conn.-based Newman’s Own, Inc.

The program offers a two-week free trial with Netflix; upon conversion to a paying membership, participants will receive coupons for the two free pizzas.

Newman’s Own Thin & Crispy frozen pizza now comes in five varieties: Supreme, Four Cheese, Roasted Garlic and Chicken, Uncured Pepperoni and the recently launched Margherita. Retailing for a suggested price of $6.49, the product line is available at such banners as Safeway, Stop & Shop, Dominick’s, Fred Meyer, King Soopers, Shaw’s, Hannaford, Demoulas, Harris Teeter and Giant-Landover.
