New iPhone Mobile Coupon App Saves Paper for Earth Day

The Coupon Sherpa iPhone application, from the Fort Collins, Colo.-based company of the same name, allows shoppers to access in-store coupons on their iPhone or iPod Touch. Available at the iPhone App Store, it includes coupons to over 100 merchants including Finish Line, Zales Jewelers, Coldwater Creek, and Jackson-Hewitt and other retailers spanning the categories of clothing, restaurants, pet supplies, sporting goods, home and garden, and entertainment.

“We know that paper coupons will not be completely replaced, but providing consumers and retailers with an outlet for mobile coupons is a positive start towards reducing the waste created by the mountains of mail we all receive,” said Luke Knowles, who created Coupon Sherpa with his brother, Jesse Knowles. “In the future, an increasing amount of coupons will be presented on mobile devices, and that will be great for the environment.”

To use the application, users open the application, which directs them to a page that features all of the stores that offer coupons. By selecting the desired store, available coupons for that store appear. Users can also use the application find the store’s nearest location. The user then presents the coupon to the cashier, who can enter its bar code or scan it for redemption.
