New Global Produce Alliance Official to Keynote UFFVA Public Policy Conference
WASHINGTON, D.C.-- Morten Strunge Meyer, secretary general of the newly formed International Fruit & Vegetable Alliance, will be the featured speaker at the closing session of the United Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Association's Washington Public Policy Conference on Thurs., Sept. 15, 2005.
The former project manager for the Danish Cancer Society 6 A Day program, Meyer's presentation will be titled, "International Perspectives on Environmental and Policy Changes that Effectively Increase Fruit and Vegetable Consumption." Well-known for his engaging, entertaining presentations, Meyer will discuss the relationship between environmental change and behavior modification, fruit and vegetable snack programs around the world, the Danish Workfruit program, international 5 A Day programs, and the newly formed organization that he heads up.
"For the past 10 years, [Meyer] has been an outstanding and highly effective leader of European initiatives to increase fruit and vegetable consumption," said Lorelei DiSogra, United's v.p. of nutrition/health.
Meyer has served as an advisor to the World Health Organization on its Global Initiative for Fruits and Vegetables, for which he organized international workshops on school fruit programs and nutrition prevention strategies. He served on the board of the National School Fruit Program in Denmark, as well as on the scientific and organizing committees of the international 5 A Day Symposia. He was also co-founder of the Danish National 6 A Day campaign.
