New Giant Eagle Additions Said to Include Green Location
PITTSBURGH -- Of the up to five stores Giant Eagle here is planning to open in central Ohio, one will be an ecologically friendly location, which is scheduled to open by early autumn in Columbus, according to a local news report.
The five new stores, if built, would bring Giant Eagle's store count in the region to 24. The grocer first entered the market seven years ago.
Giant Eagle has applied for LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification for the green store, Caitlin Bennett of the Washington-based trade group U.S. Green Building Council told the Columbus Dispatch.
