New FMI Annual Business Conference to Focus on Equipment and Services

ARLINGTON, Va. -- The Food Marketing Institute said it will launch a new Annual Business Conference in a one-on-one meeting format to connect retailers directly with providers of products, equipment, and services.

The event will debut October 17-19 at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas, the trade association said. The number of people who can attend will be limited, and registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

"The conference will resemble the successful model of our ABC for consumer products," said FMI s.v.p. Brian Tully. "It will provide top executives highly focused, one-on-one meetings needed to achieve optimum efficiency from the myriad systems needed to operate a supermarket or distribution center."

The ABC provides a forum for trading partners to focus on strategic issues. According to FMI, it combines 45-minute planned and disciplined meetings to examine industry and company issues with more informal social events.

FMI said it developed this meeting to enable manufacturers to address design, environmental, and maintenance features in the fixturing category.

FMI said its ABC conference for consumer products will remain a spring event.
