New Florida Ag Program to Teach How to Make Fresh Baby Food

TALLAHASSEE -- Florida Agriculture Commissioner Charles H. Bronson is preparing to officially kick off a new pilot program on Jan. 9 to teach consumers how to prepare baby food at home, using fresh fruits and vegetables.

"Fresh from Florida Kids" is an initiative of the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, the Healthy Start Coalition of Florida, and Publix, according to the department.

The event will take place at 10 a.m. on Jan. 9 at the Roberts and Stevens Medical Center, Leon County Health Department, in Tallahassee. "The Florida Chef" Justin Timineri will show parents easy ways to make fresh, homemade baby food while preparing a family meal. Attendees will receive Florida produce to take home so they can create their own healthy meals.
