Stop-motion legumes, profit zombies on attack and hip-hop in the aisles are among the top seven winners in the second “My Co-op Rocks,” an online video contest hosted by National Cooperative Grocers Association and sponsored by Equal Exchange and Frontier Natural Products Co-op.
My Co-op Rocks asked co-op fans nationwide to creatively share the reasons they shop at and support a food co-op. In their entries, co-op enthusiasts lauded everything from access to non-genetically modified foods to being part of their community.
“My Co-op Rocks offers a platform for co-op shoppers to share the reasons they love their local food co-op,” said Robynn Shrader, NCGA CEO. “We’re inspired by the creativity and talent of this year's participants.”
Individuals submitted videos Sept. 1 through Sept. 30, and voting continued through Oct. 15. Winners were selected in two categories: People’s Choice, based on the general public’s votes, and “Judges’ Choice,” for which a panel of judges scored videos based on creativity, theme and overall appeal.
Prizes were awarded to the top three entries in each category. First-place winners received an Apple iPad, second-place winners received a $500 co-op gift card and third-place winners received a co-op customized Flip Slide HD cam. This year, a tie was awarded for Judges’ Choice third-place winners.
