Natural/organic Fast-food Chain Heads South

PORTLAND, Maine -- O'Naturals, a fast-casual dining spot that specializes in all-natural and organic foods, is heading south for its latest franchise location, downtown Orlando, Fla.

A Dec. 17 grand opening is planned for the site, located at 44 East Central Boulevard.

O'Naturals' menu includes flatbread sandwiches and pizzas, soups, tossed salads, Asian noodles, and fresh baked goods. All O'Naturals ingredients are natural, organic, or local. The concept, founded in 2001, was the brainchild of Gary Hirshberg, president and "CE-Yo" of Stonyfield Farm.

While Orlando is the first Southeastern market for O'Naturals, plans call for four more locations in the Carolinas to open over the next few years, the company added. Currently O'Naturals restaurants are located in Acton, Mass.; Falmouth, Maine; Portland, Maine; and Wichita, Kansas.

The chain also recently announced a strategic partnership with Compass Group, the world's largest foodservice company. Franchised O'Naturals kiosks and restaurants will soon be available to Compass Group-managed corporations, hospitals, colleges, universities, and other contracted locations.
