Natural Products Expo East to Relocate, Join Forces with Natural Retailers' Group

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Natural Products Expo East is returning to its roots next year, as the popular organic and natural products trade show relocates its annual East Coast expo to Baltimore, and simultaneously joins forces with the National Nutritional Foods Association East (NNFA East) to boost natural products retailer presence.

New Hope Natural Media, the organizer of the show, revealed the plan on Friday at the Expo East, which this year was held in Washington, D.C.

The decision to return to Baltimore for the 2006 Natural Products Expo East was based on customer and industry feedback, said Fredrik Linder, president of New Hope Natural Media. "The move to Baltimore is a positive progression, and will allow Natural Products Expo East to continue to grow and diversify," he said.

In the other big change for the show, New Hope said it has inked an association sponsorship, co-marketing, and co-advocacy agreement with the NNFA East for Natural Products Expo East 2006. NNFA East is a regional division of the National Nutritional Foods Association (NNFA), the nation's largest and oldest non-profit organization dedicated to the natural products industry.

NNFA represents more than 8,000 retailers, manufacturers, wholesalers, and distributors of natural products including foods, dietary supplements, and health/beauty aids. The collaboration should increase the independent natural products retailers' presence and industry leadership at Expo East, New Hope said.

The Expo, which draws some 1,000 exhibitors and more than 20,000 attendees, has been held in Washington, D.C. for the past five years. Prior to that, it had been held in Baltimore for 12 years, from 1988 to 2000. New Hope Natural Media also organizes Natural Products Expo West, held annually in Anaheim, Calif.

The next Expo East will take place Oct. 4-7, 2006, at the Baltimore Convention Center.
