Natural Grocers Adds Instacart in Portland Area

Natural Grocers has inked a deal with Instacart to provide grocery delivery service to residential and business customers in Portland, Ore., including Hillsboro, Beaverton, Tigard, Tualatin, Lake Oswego and downtown.

Instacart deliveries will be dispatched from Natural Grocers’ Beaverton store and will enable customers to choose from the full selection of local, natural and organic products, as well as a large selection of vitamins and supplements.

“Our customers trust us to only source products that meet the highest health, safety and environmental responsibility standards,” said Kemper Isely, co-president of Lakewood, Colo.-based Natural Grocers. “By partnering with Instacart, we can offer Portland-area residents the same great selection, with the added convenience of same-day delivery straight to their home or office – which is especially valuable to those who are busy and don’t have time to make it into our store.”

Customers can place orders on the web or via Instacart’s iOS and Android apps, which will in turn be sent to Instacart's team of personal shoppers, who receive orders on their smartphones, to handpick the items at Natural Grocers and make the delivery.

New Instacart customers receive free delivery on their first order of $10 or more. The San Franciso-based grocery delivery service also offers a $99 annual membership program that eliminates delivery fees for all orders of $35 via Instacart Express.

Founded in Colorado in 1955 by Margaret and Philip Isely, Natural Grocers is celebrating its 60th year in business. With store locations in Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming, the publicly traded company is managed by Isely family members and employs more than 2,000 associates.
