National Chain Inks Deal for Digital Signage System

A national retail chain with more than 1,000 stores plans to deploy a digital signage and pricing technology solution that delivers real-time, dynamic pricing to electronic shelf labels (ESLs).

The chain is working with San Jose, Calif.-based Altierre on the project. “These inexpensive, battery-powered signs are easily mounted on retail shelves and other display areas, and can be relocated around the store or reassigned to a new product just as easily,” said Altierre chairman and CEO Sunit Saxena. “Our wireless infrastructure eliminates the need for expensive and restrictive wiring, and makes it possible for retailers to update thousands of signs across the country instantaneously. In essence, we can bring a Web page to every shelf edge or rack in the store.”

Altierre provides a unified wireless infrastructure that supports RFID-based applications for retailers, such as its digital signage and pricing solution. The system is designed to efficiently deliver real-time, chain-wide dynamic pricing, improve price accuracy, reduce costs and paper waste, and enable targeted communications with customers and employees.
