National Apple Month Display Contest Still Seeks Entries

Since 2010’s U.S. apple harvest resulted in an abundant, delicious crop, many retailers capitalized on this seasonal bounty by displaying and featuring the popular fruit in produce departments across the country this past fall in tandem with National Apple Month. Among the examples of successful displays were those that cross-merchandised apples with such complementary items as Marzetti Caramel Apple Dips, JIF Natural Peanut Butter and Smucker’s Natural Peanut Butter.

Retailers can send documentation of their display activities and submit them to the National Apple Month Program, the deadline for which has been extended to Jan. 15, for the chance to win more than $10,000 in cash prizes.

Entries should include the official entry form, along with at least one photo of the display. The entry form is available by contacting Allison Parker of the U.S. Apple Association at [email protected] or 703-442-8850 (toll-free 800-781-4443). Retailers can send their completed entries to to National Apple Month, 8233 Old Courthouse Road, Suite 200, Vienna, VA 22182. Winners will be revealed by Feb. 5, 2011.

National Apple Month (NAM), which takes place annually in October, is the generic marketing and promotional program for the U.S. apple industry and offers the premier fall apple promotion in the country, in addition to other industry promotional and recognition programs.
