Nash Finch Opens New Family Fresh Stores

Nash Finch Co. cut the ribbon this week on two new Family Fresh Markets, in River Falls, Wis., and Farmington, Minn.

These stores mark the third and fourth Family Fresh Market locations, which position themselves at offering gourmet-caliber freshness and quality at affordable prices.

“We designed our Family Fresh Market format to offer our customers incredibly fresh and high-quality products such as produce, meat, seafood, natural and organic in a price-competitive format,” said Tom Swanson, Nash Finch VP of retail operations. “We believe healthy eating should not be punitive and we strive to offer our customers the offerings they want without the gourmet shop price tag.”

Ribbon-cutting events included cash donations to each community’s local food banks, book donations to local schools via Nash Finch’s Feeding Imagination program , live musical entertainment and guest appearances by Lewis the Bookworm and the Minnesota Twins’ mascot, TC Bear.

Minneapolis-based Nash Finch Co.’s core food distribution business serves independent retailers and military commissaries in 36 states, the District of Columbia, Europe, Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Azores, Bahrain and Egypt. The company also owns and operates a base of retail stores, primarily supermarkets under the Econofoods, Family Thrift Center, Avanza, Family Fresh Markets, Bag ’n Save and Sun Mart banners.
