Nash Finch Names New Pharmacy Marketing Director
MINNEAPOLIS -- Joseph Friedman, former director of pharmacy at Topco Associates LLC, has joined Nash Finch Co. here in the newly-created position of senior director/pharmacy marketing.
Friedman, who brings more then 25 years of experience in healthcare marketing and sales in the retail, pharmaceutical, hospital, and managed care industries, will report to Christopher Brown, e.v.p./food distribution.
"[Friedman's] broad ranging experience in pharmacy sales and marketing will be of great value as we continue to implement Operation Fresh Start," said Brown, speaking of the company's strategic plan set in motion last November to sharpen its response to industry, consumer, and market trends. Pharmacy is one of the key businesses Nash Finch is looking to build its strength in.
Brown said Friedman will help the company develop a strong health and wellness program, as well as increase its pharmacy marketing efforts."
In addition to being director of pharmacy, Friedman had held a number of other pharmacy management positions at Topco since 1997. Friedman's background also includes sales positions at Glaxo Inc., where he served as director of pharmacy for Larabida Children's Hospital and Research Center; and experience as a clinical staff pharmacist and practicing pharmacist, Nash Finch said.
Nash Finch's core food distribution business serves independent retailers and military commissaries in 31 states, the District of Columbia, Europe, Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Azores and Egypt. The company also owns and operates a base of retail stores, primarily supermarkets under the Econofoods, Family Thrift Center, and Sun Mart trade names.
