Moberg to Become C.E.O. of Dubai-based Shopping Mall Developer
AMSTERDAM -- Anders Moberg, who last month announced his departure from Ahold here, where he was c.e.o, has been appointed c.e.o. of Majid Al Futtaim Group, shopping mall developer based in Dubai. Moberg will begin his new job July 1.
Besides his tenure at Ahold, the world's fourth-largest food retailer, Moberg has held key executive positions at Home Depot and IKEA.
In other Ahold news, Moberg said that Ahold wants to stay an independent business and hasn't received any offers for its U.S. businesses, with the exception of U.S. Foodservice, according to press reports.
Moberg's comments came in the wake of his abrupt decision to resign, which has fueled speculation that a merger with Belgium-based Delhaize Group was in the offing.
