Mi Pueblo Opens 12th Store

Mi Pueblo Food Center, a Hispanic grocer based in San Diego and Progressive Grocer’s 2009 Outstanding Community-Based Independent, opened its 12th store yesterday, in Pittsburg, Calif.

According to published reports, the 51,000-square-foot store occupies the lot of a former Albertsons in a market that is 40 percent Hispanic.

Its offerings include a large bakery, a Mexican-style deli, a taquería, an agua fresca stand, a cremería offering cheeses and sour creams, a panadería, and a tortillería where the grocer makes fresh tortillas daily.
