'Meijer Mania' Parties Welcome College Freshman

On the heels of back-to-school season, Meijer is once again welcoming incoming college freshman to campus through its Meijer Mania in-store parties.

The Grand Rapids, Mich.-based retailer kicked off Meijer Mania in mid-August, and will host 23 events across the Midwest through early September.

Some 40,000 incoming students will be bussed from their campus to the party, hosted by their local Meijer store. Each event includes a DJ, photo booth and interactive contests, as well as sample and coupon offerings.

"Our Meijer Mania events generate a lot of energy among the students, who are embarking on a new experience," said Cathy Cooper, senior director of promotions and sponsorships at Meijer. "They bring their creativity and school spirit, and share the fun with their family and friends through social networks like Vine, Instagram and Twitter. We are pleased to partner with so many colleges and universities to help ease the transition for these students."

Meijer Mania began about a decade ago, and was designed to introduce young shoppers to the Meijer brand.

Meijer operates 213 supercenters and grocery stores throughout Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky.
