Meijer Joins Discover Network's 'Cash Over' Program
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Meijer, Inc. here has joined Discover Financial Services' and Morgan Stanley's Discover Network's nationwide "Cash Over" program, which enables customers paying with a Discover Network credit card to access cash over the amount of purchase.
"The Cash Over program is another way to simplify but enhance our customers' shopping experience," said Stacie Behler, Meijer's v.p. of corporate communication and public affairs. "This is a tremendous convenience that helps our millions of customers save time by eliminating the extra trip to the bank to get cash."
Under the Cash Over program, Meijer customers can receive between $20 and $100 over the amount of their purchase when made with Discover Network credit cards, which include all credit cards displaying the Discover Network acceptance mark on the front or the back of the card.
"We are very excited that Meijer, a leading supercenter, is joining our Cash Over program," said Beth Horowitz, v.p of product management for Discover. "As the newest addition to our growing list of Cash Over merchants, Meijer helps demonstrate the growth and broad-scale attractiveness of this unique benefit."
Horowitz added that Discover Network's Cash Over program is not only a unique tool that offers convenient cash access to cardholders when they make everyday purchases using their Discover Network credit cards, but also offers merchants the ability to provide a value-added service to consumers that frequent their stores. The convenience and ease of Cash Over helps merchants drive repeat business and increased spend.
According to a recent study, Horowitz said customers using Discover Network's Cash Over program visit stores with the program three times more often, while merchants saw the purchase volumes of customers using the program increase by three times.
The addition of Meijer stores now brings the number of locations that offer Discover Network's Cash Over program to more than 8,700 locations nationwide. Other participating retailers include Wal-Mart Stores; Sam's Club Safeway; Jewel-Osco; Heinen's, Inc.; Giant Eagle, Inc.; Dominick's; and more.
