Meijer Expands Andretti Green Racing Partnership

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Meijer Inc. here inked a sponsorship deal with Andretti Green Racing -- which bills itself as the winningest team in Indy Racing League history -- for the 2007 Indy Racing League IndyCar Series season.

Meijer, the Midwest-based retail and grocery supercenter giant, will expand Andretti Green Racing's partnership portfolio as an associate sponsor on the #7 Team Motorola entry driven by 2005 IndyCar Series rookie of the year Danica Patrick.

"We're proud to welcome Meijer to our team for the 2007 IndyCar Series season," said Michael Andretti, co-owner of Andretti Green Racing. "Meijer has 176 stores throughout the Midwest and the IndyCar Series schedule puts our cars in some of Meijer's most important markets. We hope to get them into victory lane in 2007."

Meijer spokeswoman Stacie Behler was equally enthused with the deal. "Meijer is proud to partner with other family businesses like Andretti Green Racing and we know 2007 will be a victory for our families and race fans everywhere."
Since joining the Indy Racing League in 2003, Andretti Green Racing has claimed 23 IndyCar Series victories including the 2005 Indianapolis 500, four wins in the Pro Series and two IndyCar Series championships. In 2007, AGR will also field an XM-sponsored Acura-powered Courage in the American Le Mans Series.

The family-run Meijer, a pioneer of the supercenter concept, operates 176 stores throughout Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio, and employs more than 63,000 team members.
