McCain’s ‘Original’ Idea Sprouts a Sweet Deal for Foodservice Operators

To celebrate the continuing success of its Harvest Splendor Sweet Potato Selections in the foodservice channel, Lisle, Ill.-based McCain Foods USA, introducer of “The Original” sweet potato fry to foodservice back in 1994, is running a promotion that could yield a big-time payday for operators that feature the line’s products in their menus.

Operators can register for McCain’s Original Promotion, which offers $50,000 in cash, at HarvestSplendor.com. In addition to getting a free case of Sweet Potato Selections, entrants can earn additional entries with case purchases, by providing a product review and by signing up for Sweet News, the brand’s e-newsletter.

The site also offers such business-building features as menuing help, waitstaff training tips and free customizable point-of-sale materials.

The Harvest Splendor Sweet Potato Selections line consists of 7/16 Deep Groove Crinkle Cut Extra Long Fries, Thin Stix and Regular Stix.
