Martin’s Co-Hosts Tasting Event to Benefit Pet Refuge

Martin’s Super Markets and fellow merchants in the Granger, Ind., Heritage Square lifestyle center will present the first-ever “Taste of Heritage Square” event this evening, proceeds of which will benefit Pet Refuge, a not-for-profit “no-kill” animal shelter run by volunteers for the placement of unwanted and abandoned pets in responsible permanent homes.

Admission to the event allows adult guests to visit a wine and beer tasting presented by consultants representing local, regional and national vintners and specialty breweries.

Martin’s serves as the anchor tenant for Heritage Square, a 230,000-square-foot open-air lifestyle center located at the intersection of State Road 23 and Main Street in Mishawaka, Ind.

In addition, the admission price of $20 per person and $30 per couple will also include a sampling of specialty foods prepared by Heritage Square chefs, restaurants and retail establishments.

“In past years, we’ve hosted a similar wine and beer tasting event as a fundraiser for Pet Refuge,” said Elise Kunkel, community affairs coordinator at Martin’s Heritage Square. “This year, we wanted to make it bigger and better, and the logical way to do that was to join together with our retail neighbors here and offer guests a ‘taste’ of the unique offerings available from all the shops at Heritage Square.”

Based in South Bend, Ind., Martin’s Super Markets operates 20 stores in South Bend, Mishawaka, Granger, Elkhart, Goshen, Plymouth, Nappanee and Logansport, Ind., and Niles, Stevensville and St. Joseph, Mich.
