Marsh Teams with Indy Colts for 5th Annual Handoff for Hunger

INDIANAPOLIS -- Marsh Supermarkets here, along with its hometown Indianapolis Colts and Peyton Manning are once again partnering for the 5th annual Handoff for Hunger campaign.

Designed to stock the shelves of local food pantries and help ensure no one goes hungry in the Indianapolis area and surrounding communities, this food drive will take place before this evening's Monday Night Football game against the Pittsburgh Steelers at the RCA Dome.

Don E. Marsh, chairman and c.e.o. of Marsh Supermarkets, said his company is "delighted to partner for the fifth consecutive year with the Indianapolis Colts and quarterback Peyton Manning to host a community food drive. Our hope is to build upon last year's successful event by collecting even more nonperishable goods and food items to assist the statewide food pantries make a positive difference in our communities."

"Handoff for Hunger gives Colts fans the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those in need," added Tom Zupancic, s.v.p. of business development for the Colts. “By dropping off non-perishable food items or a donation we can help people who need our support during the holidays. This is a great program that really gives back to the community.”

Thus far, the annual Handoff for Hunger food drive event has collected over 506,000 pounds of food to help stock local food pantries.

Marsh Supermarkets operates 70 Marsh Supermarkets, 37 LoBill Foods stores, two Arthur's Fresh Markets, one Savin$, eight O'Malia Food Markets, and 160 Village Pantry convenience stores in Indiana, western Ohio and Illinois.
