Marsh Supermarkets Posts Quarterly Loss
NEW YORK - Marsh Supermarkets Inc. on Monday reported a quarterly loss, reversing a year-ago profit. The food retailer, which runs more than 100 stores primarily in Indiana and Ohio, posted a net loss of $824,000 or 10 cents a share for the fourth quarter ended March 29, versus net income of $1.9 million, or 22 cents a share.
Total revenue was virtually unchanged at $373.3 million, according to the company, which said its same-store sales fell 2.2 percent.
Marsh outlets operate under such banners as LoBill Foods, Savin*$, Village Pantry, as well as its own name. The company's shares were up 4.57 percent, or 57 cents, at $13.05 in Monday afternoon Nasdaq trading.
