Some 663 Marsh employees lost a combined weight of 3,961 pounds through the grocer's 14-Week Healthy Weight Challenge.
Participants received a pedometer at the start of the program and were provided with weekly nutrition tips, shopping strategies and healthy recipes through Marsh’s digital Fit in ’14 program, developed by Mary Snell, director of nutrition and wellness.
“Marsh’s commitment to improving the health and wellness of the communities we serve begins with taking care of our store associates," said CEO Tom O’Boyle. “Since the leading causes of death are diet related and thousands of people are living with chronic diseases that not only affect their quality of life but contribute to higher health-care costs, health and wellness initiatives will continue to be a priority for Marsh.”
Indianapolis-based Marsh operates 61 Marsh Supermarkets, 15 MainStreet Markets and 3 O’Malia’s Food Markets in Indiana and Ohio, with 41 Indiana pharmacy locations.
