Mars, Inc. Among Fortune’s 100 Best Cos. to Work For

Mars, Inc. has been ranked 95th on the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For list, the magazine’s annual ranking compiled by Great Place to Work Institute, which includes the most admired U.S. businesses as recognized by employees. The list will be featured in Fortune’s February edition.

“We believe Mars is a great place to have a career and we are especially pleased that this ranking is due in large part to what our Associates have to say about our culture, heritage and winning business," said Paul S. Michaels, president of Mclean, Va.-based Mars, Inc.

In November 2012, Mars was also recognized by the world's first global workplace excellence ranking – the World's Best Multinational Workplaces List, which, among other things, recognized Mars' increases in the percentage of women in executive and senior management positions over the last 11 years.

In 2012, more than 15 of Mars, Inc.’s operations were featured on the national Great Place to Work and other local workplace ranking lists including: Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, India, Ireland, Korean, Netherlands, New Zealand, Russia and Spain as well as being featured 18th on the Great Place to Work 25 Best Multinational Workplaces in Europe.

Widely recognized as an authoritative reference, the Fortune list of great places to work is compiled largely through a series of associate surveys. Two-thirds of a company's score is based on the results of the survey. The other third is based on responses to the Institute's Culture Audit, which includes questions about pay and benefit programs, hiring practices, methods of internal communication, training, recognition programs, social responsibility, and diversity efforts.

Mars Inc. has net sales of more than $30 billion, six business segments including Petcare, Chocolate, Wrigley, Food, Drinks and Symbioscience, and more than 70,000 associates worldwide.
