Market Street Store to Host Exhibition of Local Art

Market Street Colleyville will hold an open-house art exhibition showcasing local talent on Friday, June 4, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in its upstairs dining and culinary school area. Area natives Bonnie Dunn and Margaret Pfarrer will display original artwork employing both watercolor and oil painting techniques while the upscale United Supermarkets banner offers free refreshments.

“We’ve been proudly showing off both Bonnie and Margaret’s artwork to our culinary school students for a long time, and now we couldn’t be more excited to share their talents with the rest of the Colleyville community,” noted store director Eric Cook. “Both women demonstrate a passionate spirit for their work as well as great love and loyalty to the Dallas-Fort Worth area that’s been their home for so many years. As the first Market Street store to open in the DFW area, we feel the same way about serving Colleyville and its families as a grocery store, a pharmacy, a culinary school, a meeting place and now an art gallery. We want to always be a place where our guests know they can relax and are always welcome.”

The artists will donate 20 percent of every sale to the annual Celebrity Chefs charity event organized by Mid-Cities Supporters of SafeHaven (Mid-Cities SOS), a local nonprofit organization that supports women and children of the SafeHaven mission in Tarrant County who have been affected by domestic violence.

Pfarrer, a specialist in watercolor and oil methods, has received awards in both categories. Dunn works in watercolor and oil painting styles, floral arrangement and the carving, burning and decorating of hard-shell gourds. Both are active members of the Trinity Art Guild.

The event is open to all at no charge. Further information about the exhibition and other local doings is available at www.marketstreetcolleyville.com as well as Market Street’s DFW Facebook and Twitter pages.

In 2003, Market Street opened its first DFW store in Colleyville, with subsequent locations bowing in McKinney, Plano, Allen, Frisco and Coppell-Lewisville.

Lubbock, Texas-based United Supermarkets, LLC operates in 30 markets across north and west Texas. A self-distributing company, United runs 50 stores under three distinct formats: United Supermarkets, Market Street and Amigos United.
