Market Street Sponsors LPGA Golfer
LUBBOCK, Texas -- Market Street has left its mark on professional golfer and Texas native Brittany Lang: Under an agreement between the LPGA athlete and Market Street's parent company, United Supermarkets, Ltd. here, the Market Street logo will appear on Lang's apparel through 2008.
"This is an excellent opportunity to raise the profile of our Metroplex stores," said Wes Jackson, c.o.o. of United's specialty division, in a statement. "With Brittany already representing names such as Adams Golf, Canon, and Titleist, Market Street is in very good company."
As Lang participates in at least 30 LPGA Tour golf tournaments taking place this year and the next, she'll wear clothes with the Market Street logo. Lang's apparel will also sport the logo at all other golf competitions she takes part in during that time.
Additionally, she'll make at least four personal appearances for Market Street over the next 18 months. "We would certainly like to have her there when we open our new stores in Allen and Frisco next year, and I'm sure we'll want to have her at a golf event of some kind as well," Jackson said.
Lang and her parents shop regularly at the Market Street store in her hometown of McKinney.
In just two full years as a tour pro, Lang has already won nearly $700,000 in prize money. Last season she finished in the top 10 at seven tournaments.
United Supermarkets serves 26 markets in north and west Texas. The company operates 46 stores under the United Supermarkets, Market Street, and Super Mercado formats.
