Marathoners Lasso Support from Cub Foods

STILLWATER, Minn. -- Associates from Cub Foods here, one of only three major sponsors of the 2005 Twin Cities Marathon, were on hand this past Sunday to offer some "wild west" support to runners as they reached the halfway mark.

Store directors from the 52 Twin Cities Cub Foods stores, dressed in cowboy and cowgirl attire, gathered at mile marker 13, amid hay bales and the twang of country music and cow bells, to hand Cub Spring Water to runners as they passed.

The marathon, billed as "the Most Beautiful Urban Marathon in America," covers 26.2 miles in Minneapolis and St. Paul. More than ten thousand runners competed in the 24th annual event.

Cub Foods, owned by Supervalu, operates 52 stores in the Twin Cities.
