Lynn’s Dakotamart Acquires Sutley’s Locations
Lynn’s Dakotamart, the Rapid City, S.D.-based retailer with nine locations throughout the western portion of the state, is purchasing two stores from DeWayne Strohfus, who owns Sutley’s. One location, Sutley’s Super Savings in Pierre, will likely close as Lynn’s already operates a store in the town. The other store, Sutley’s Town & Ranch Market in Fort Pierre, will continue operating, likely under the Lynn’s Dakotamart banner. The deal is expected to close Friday, Dec. 5.
Sutley’s employs about 65 people who have been extended offers of employment by Lynn’s Dakotamart. “We’re counting on them to continue the operations,” said Dave Johnson, Lynn’s general manager, in local media reports.
Lynn’s Dakotamart is owned by the iest family, with second-generation family members Don and Jim Fiest running operations. The first store opened in Faith, S.D., in 1968. Currently, the family operates locations in Faith, Pierre, Sturgis, Belle Fourche, Lead, Hot Springs, Custer, Martin and Fort Thompson in addition to two convenience stores.
