Lowes Foods, Sunkist Host Regional Heart-healthy Promo
To help consumers start following their hearts when shopping for food, Lowes Foods and Sunkist Growers have joined forces on a “Healthy New You” promotion running through Feb. 22. Exclusively aimed at Lowes shoppers in South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia, the in-store promotion provides the latest information on healthier eating and encompasses such elements as displays and the opportunity for shoppers to win a free spa weekend.
According to the vendor, Sunkist oranges are an excellent source of vitamin C and a good source of fiber, both of which are linked to enhanced heart health. “Every aisle of the grocery store is filled with choices, so it’s important to arm consumers with the information they need to make smart food choices at retail,” noted Lisa Selip, marketing director for Greensboro, N.C.-based Lowes Foods, which operates 108 stores in three Southeastern states.
As part of “Healthy New You,” Sherman Oaks, Calif.-based Sunkist is highlighting Cara Cara navel oranges as a fast and easy, sodium-free snack and cluing consumers in on “Sunkist S’alternative,” a health initiative encouraging the use of freshly squeezed Sunkist lemons as a natural, sodium-free alternative to salt. Further, a Sunkist Morning Sunrise Smoothie recipe will be provided in the Heart Healthy brochure stocked at in-store displays.
