Lowe to Take Reins at Shoppers
Tim Lowe, senior vice president of operations for Shoppers Food & Pharmacy, will take over as president of the Supervalu-owned chain effective Oct. 11.
“Tim is an experienced leader at Shoppers and is well positioned to grow the organization in the marketplace,” said Brian Huff, Supervalu senior VP of specialty retail.
With nearly 20 years of retail experience, Lowe joined Supervalu in 2009 as Shoppers’ senior VP of operations; he returns to Supervalu after a brief tenure at Burlington Coat Factory. Lowe’s retail grocery experience also includes five years with Meijer Inc., where he was promoted to VP of general merchandise for retail stores, and seven years with Walmart, where his most recent position was regional manager of retail stores.
“Shoppers enjoys a long-standing tradition of serving customers in this market,” Lowe said. “I look forward to continuing that tradition and working hard to exceed our customers’ expectations every day.”
Lowe succeeds Dick Bergman, who retired from Shoppers on Oct. 1.
Shoppers Food & Pharmacy, part of the Supervalu family of grocery stores, serves consumers in Baltimore, northern Virginia and Washington, D.C., with 62 stores.
