License Paves Way for Cash Wise Liquor Sales

Coborn’s Inc. will acquire the liquor license currently in use at The Chicago Club in Minot, N.D., for its Cash Wise Liquor operation in the new Southgate Shopping Center near its 58,000-square-foot Cash Wise grocery store slated to open this summer.

“Friends and family come together over food and spirits, so it’s only natural to open Cash Wise Liquor near our Cash Wise grocery store,” said Coborn’s president and CEO Chris Coborn. “Both stores will offer Minot and the surrounding communities a convenient shopping experience, focused on variety, low price and value.”

Coborn’s is building five Cash Wise grocery stores across western North Dakota to serve the state’s booming population growth. Stores in Minot and Watford City are under construction and planned to open this summer. Stores in Tioga and Dickinson will open in late 2013 and early 2014, respectively. Timing of the opening in Stanley is to be announced.

Coborn’s acquired Mike’s Super Valu in Watford City in December 2012. The store will continue to operate until Cash Wise opens in Watford City, at which point the employees at Mike’s Super Valu will transfer to Cash Wise.

St. Cloud, Minn.-based Coborn’s Inc. is an employee-owned grocery retailer with 47 stores across Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin under the Coborn’s, Cash Wise Foods, Save-A-Lot, Economart, Food Pride and Mike’s Super Valu banners.
