Laurel Grocery Promotes Stonerock as Supercenter Foe
LONDON, Ken. - Laurel Grocery Co. here has elevated Brett Stonerock to manager of its Strategic Marketing Initiative program designed to help Laurel's independent retailers compete against the supercenters and chain stores.
Previously, Stonerock served as a retail operations consultant for independent retailers in the Central Ohio area, prior to which he was a store manager for over 20 years with Howard's IGA, a 10 store, Springfield, Ohio-based independent retailer.
"With competition from supercenters and the chain stores getting more fierce all the time," said Jim Buchanan, president and c.e.o., "our retailers need the SMI program to be competitive. Brett has the background and experience to do an excellent job."
Laurel Grocery Co. serves over 500 stores in 8 states and has been owned by the Chesnut and Griffin families since 1922.
