Laurel Grocery Promotes Grace, Keller

LONDON, Ky. - Laurel Grocery Co. here has promoted three executives, including Tom Grace who was upped to a new v.p./merchandising position after previously serving as director of meat operations.

In his new position, Grace will be responsible for the buying and merchandising grocery, frozen, dairy, meat, bakery and deli, as well as oversee advertising with the directors of those departments.

Jerry Keller will replace Grace in the meat director's post, and will be responsible for growing Laurel Grocery's meat operations and developing new programs to help its independent retailers grow their meat sales and profit. Keller previously served as a meat specialist working with independent retailers and prior to that was a meat supervisor for a 10-store independent.

"During the last several years, Laurel has been growing at an exceptional pace," said Jim Buchanan, president and c.e.o. "We felt this reorganization was necessary to help us coordinate all the activities of our buying and merchandising departments as it pertains to helping our independent retailers. As we've grown, our expectations from these departments has increased and we felt greater accountability was needed to meet those expectations.
