Kroger’s Barclay to Lead National H.R. Academy

The Kroger Co.’s SVP of human resources, Kathleen S. Barclay, has been elected as chairwoman of the board of directors of the National Academy of Human Resources (NAHR) after serving as a director since February 2003.

Barclay, who was inducted into NAHR in 2000, formerly served as VP of global human resources at General Motors Corp. from 1998-2009, where she led HR initiatives worldwide with a focus on building a strong footprint in emerging and growth markets and restructuring in mature markets. She has served as a board member for the Hispanic Scholarship Fund and is a past president of Michigan State University’s Eli Broad College of Business and member of MIT Sloan Fellows Alumni Board.

A three-time recipient of Automotive News’ 100 Leading Women, Barclay, who has also been named to Human Resource Executive magazine’s HR Honor Roll, currently serves as a board member for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.

The National Academy of Human Resources, founded in 1992, recognizes individuals of distinction in human resources are recognized that exemplify exceptional professional achievement by election as "Fellows of the NAHR.” The Academy also occasionally recognizes human resource related groups as "Honored Institutions/ Organizations" while furthering HR profession through the Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO) academy and other philanthropic and educational activities.
